What to look for

For a branching vine such as pothos, follow the stem you want to shorten. Find a healthy leaf node on the part that will remain, and separate nearby vines so you can see the connection clearly.

What to do

Cut that stem just above the chosen node with clean shears, keeping nearby leaves and stems intact. Begin with one vine; do not cut into a node or remove roots just to make the plant look tidy.
