Water-soaked leaf spots

Some bacterial leaf spots look wet or translucent at first.

What to look for

Watch for spots that begin water-soaked, enlarge or develop yellow borders. Similar marks have other causes, and a visual match alone cannot confirm bacteria.

What to do

Separate the plant if practical, remove affected leaves using clean tools and avoid splashing water onto foliage. Disinfect tools between plants and seek plant-specific advice if spots keep spreading.
